Data Governance Implementation Lead

Adaptfy is growing! At Adaptfy, we are looking for a Data Governance Lead with 5-8 years of experience, to join our Data and Analytics team in Amsterdam.

Who we are

Adaptfy is a turnkey data & analytics solution for the SHV family of companies. We support multiple SHV Groups with advanced Data & Analytics in all areas, elevating their operations in diverse industries across international markets and throughout entire value chains.

Adaptfy is a joint venture formed by SHV and Metyis. Metyis embodies visionary thinking in the digital world, while SHV is a globally established family of companies built on the values of integrity, trust, curiosity, passion, and inclusivity.

SHV has a presence across four continents, with businesses spanning energy, heavy lifting and transport, animal nutrition & aquaculture, testing, inspection & certification, and more. The organisation’s history reflects its courage to care—for people, for performance, and for future generations. Their success is a testament to constant reinvention through innovation.

At Adaptfy, we play a pivotal role in bringing SHV’s digital vision to life. From optimising supply chains across Europe to enhancing operational efficiency in South America, we connect the dots for SHV, shaping a data-driven future for the entire family of companies.

What we offer

• A hands-on opportunity to help build data governance in practice within one of the SHV Groups, moving beyond theory into real business impact.

• The chance to shape the first reusable data governance building blocks for Adaptfy and the wider SHV family of companies, including templates, ways of working, and practical implementation approaches.

• A collaborative and inclusive work environment at Adaptfy, the central data, AI, and analytics business unit supporting SHV companies globally.

• Exposure to business and IT stakeholders across Adaptfy and SHV, starting with one embedded group implementation and growing towards broader cross-group impact.

• Senior support and coaching from experienced Adaptfy colleagues in data, analytics, architecture, privacy, security, and business consulting.

• A role with strong learning and growth potential, ideal for someone who wants to develop into a broader data governance leadership position.

• A hybrid working model, with regular travel to SHV companies during key phases of the implementation to build relationships, facilitate workshops, and embed new ways of working.

• A culture that values curiosity, ownership, diversity, equity, inclusion, high ethical standards, confidentiality, and responsible use of data.

• Engagement with industry trends, new technologies, and evolving data governance practices, fostering lifelong learning and professional growth.

What you will do

You will help one SHV Group turn data governance from concept into daily practice, starting with the domain where the value and the stakeholder buy-in are highest, then help Adaptfy turn what works into reusable methods for other SHV companies.

• Identify priority stakeholders, pain points, and governance gaps together with business and IT.

• Define clear ownership, data owners, stewards, custodians, and decision forums, and get stakeholders to commit to them.

• Facilitate workshops to align business and technical stakeholders on ownership, definitions, and decision-making.

• Turn what works into reusable templates, playbooks, and accelerators for other SHV Groups.

• Draw on Adaptfy' s technical, architecture, and privacy specialists to execute the detailed technical work.

What you will bring

• Experience initiating a data or governance effort from scratch, including securing sponsorship and stakeholder buy-in, not only joining one that someone else already set up.

• Comfortable, and energized, engaging senior business stakeholders directly, building those relationships yourself rather than being introduced into existing ones.

• Ability to take a broad, ambiguous mandate and structure it into a clear first starting point.

• Strong communication skills, able to translate data concepts into business value for both technical and business audiences.

• 4 to 6 years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, analytics, business analysis, or a related field, still growing toward a broader governance leadership role.

• Working understanding of data platforms and why governance matters.

• Proactive, comfortable with ambiguity, and resilient.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, CDMP) or tools (Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Microsoft Purview).

• Experience in ESG, Finance, HR, Operations, Supply Chain, or another domain where data ownership matters.

• Experience in a consulting, international, or multi-entity organization.

• Basic SQL, BI, or data platform knowledge, and awareness of GDPR or other data protection principles.

We are united by our differences

At Metyis, we are driven by curiosity and collaboration. We value diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in all its forms as it makes us stronger as an organisation and promotes creativity and innovation. We welcome all talents and are committed to creating a workplace where every employee can make a meaningful impact and grow.
