About Artificial

Help shape the future of specialty insurance

At Artificial, we’re building the next generation of technology for the specialty (re)insurance market. Our mission is to transform how brokers and carriers operate in complex markets by removing operational barriers and enabling smarter, faster decision-making.

We use modern technology to solve real challenges for some of the world’s leading brokers and insurers. By automating the repetitive and structuring the complex, we help our partners unlock new opportunities for innovation and growth.

You’ll be joining a collaborative team that values curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning. We work in an environment where ideas are heard, support is built-in, and outcomes matter. Everyone here has the chance to make a tangible impact on our products, our customers, and the industry.

We've just raised $45M (£33M) in Series B funding from lead investor CommerzVentures, new investor Move Capital, as well as all existing shareholders. This investment round gives us the room to grow with confidence, continue to innovate, and ensure that Artificial remains the first choice for brokers and carriers seeking a smarter way to trade digitally.

Join us, and take the chance to be a part of something that will change the landscape of insurance for generations.

About the Role

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our growing Product QA function and take ownership of testing across Artificial's product portfolio and customer specifications. This role covers both manual testing execution and hands-on automation work, moving flexibly between Platform and Transform (customer configuration) work as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manual and automated testing execution: Own and execute both manual and automated test cases across Artificial's product suite and customer specifications - moving flexibly between Platform and Transform as priorities shift, and applying automation where it's the right fit and manual judgement where it isn't - including functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing, ensuring thorough coverage before releases reach production

• Test planning and design: Write clear, detailed test plans and test cases based on product requirements, acceptance criteria, and specification documents; identify edge cases and risk areas; ensure traceability between requirements and test coverage; maintain this as a growing knowledge base of product behaviour and testing approaches

• Customer specification testing: Test new and updated customer configurations and specifications to validate they meet requirements and behave correctly within the platform - reducing reliance on FDE for quality verification

• Automation contribution: Write and maintain automated tests within our established framework and standards, applying your existing automation experience rather than starting from scratch; help transition high-value manual test cases into automated coverage

• Bug identification and reporting: Identify, document, and triage defects with clear reproduction steps, severity assessments, and supporting evidence in Linear; follow up with engineering teams to verify fixes and close the loop

• Regression testing: Execute regression test suites ahead of releases to catch unintended side effects; help maintain and expand the regression library as the product evolves

• Quality within DDO+ modes: Support QA touch points across Discovery (smoke-testing prototypes and early builds), Delivery (thorough testing of bets and features during development cycles), and Optimisation (validating bug fixes and investigating production issues)

• Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Solutions/FDEs to understand requirements, clarify expected behaviour, and ensure alignment on quality expectations for each release or specification

About You

• 2-5 years of experience in a QA or software testing role, with a strong foundation in manual testing techniques

• Solid hands-on experience with at least one test automation framework (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium) - comfortable both executing manual tests and maintaining automated ones

• Proven ability to write clear, structured test plans and test cases from requirements and specifications

• Experience with systematic testing approaches - functional, regression, integration, exploratory - and the judgement to know when each is appropriate

• Excellent bug reporting skills - you write reproduction steps that engineers can act on immediately

• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g. Linear, Jira, or equivalent)

• A methodical, detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Comfortable working across multiple product areas and workstreams simultaneously

Benefits

• Private medical insurance

• Income protection insurance

• Life insurance of 4 * base salary

• On-site gym and shower facilities
