Senior Platform Engineer

About Fidamy

Fidamy is redefining insurance by seamlessly embedding innovative, non-life insurance products into our partners' digital and physical customer journeys. We empower our partners to unlock new revenue streams and build lasting customer loyalty.

Our engineering team is the backbone of this mission. We design and maintain the modern infrastructure that powers embedded insurance at scale, enabling our partners to deliver insurance effortlessly through clean, reliable integrations.

We're tackling complex technical challenges in a regulated, data-intensive landscape long dominated by legacy systems—a huge opportunity for transformation. Making insurance integration fast, secure, and developer-friendly can unlock an enormous market.

Our goal: replace fragile insurance tech with robust, scalable software. We build production systems where correctness, security, and performance are essential, not optional.

Backed by NN Ventures, we operate as a small, high-trust engineering team. Every engineer helps shape architecture and product decisions and contributes software built to stand the test of time.

Why Now?

Embedded insurance is expected to grow from 1% to 16% of global insurance spending by 2032—a $3 trillion opportunity. Fidamy is poised to play a leading role as the market transforms.

We're moving rapidly and scaling fast. We're looking for a sharp, hands-on Senior Platform Engineer to help drive our technology forward. If you want a high-impact, entrepreneurial role at a fast-growing startup, this is your moment.

What You'll Do

• Build and own the reliability and scalability of our production systems, cloud infrastructure, and codebase, ensuring the platform securely manages sensitive financial and personal data.

• Lead backup and disaster recovery across the platform: define clear recovery targets, rehearse and validate restores, and provide evidence of resilience.

• Be the first responder when platform incidents arise—whether they’re infrastructure issues, pipeline failures, or security events—and lead the follow-up to prevent recurrence.

• Share responsibility for our Infrastructure as Code: review and author changes, and keep our infrastructure safe to evolve.

• Maintain and enhance deployment tooling (TypeScript, with tests) for continuous, safe releases to production.

• Consistently strengthen the platform security baseline with ongoing improvements such as edge protection, audit logging, pipeline scanning, and secret rotation.

• Own and develop our authorisation model, ensuring every operation passes robust, externalised permission checks for both people and AI agents.

• Use AI-driven development as standard: direct coding agents, specify and test requirements, and rigorously review results.

• Influence the technical roadmap, participate in design reviews, and set a high standard for engineering quality across the team.

Tech Stack

• AI-driven development: Claude Code and coding agents as standard tooling

• Ways of working: test-driven development, for the deployment tooling as much as for the applications; infrastructure changes reviewed and applied through the pipeline; shipped continuously

• Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform

• Data stores: PostgreSQL, S3, NoSQL

• Application: React, Vite, Tailwind, Node.js (TypeScript), Python

• Observability: OpenTelemetry, with managed tracing and alerting on top

• Data & AI: Databricks, AWS Bedrock

Our Culture

• Move the Needle: Build systems that create tangible impact for partners and customers.

• Master Your Craft: Prioritise deep work, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing.

• Customer Obsession: Work directly with partners to solve technical challenges.

• Be Different: Challenge industry norms while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability.

• Thrive Together: Innovate quickly and execute thoughtfully in a collaborative setting.

What We're Looking For

• Robust, hands-on AWS expertise and fluency with Terraform, a non-negotiable requirement. You can review and improve existing cloud estates thoroughly.

• Experience running real-world restores in production and setting clear recovery targets. Reliability, SLOs, and incident response are central to your approach.

• Experience designing robust permission models and working with extrinsic (outside the app) authorization systems.

• Proficiency in a modern programming language (TypeScript, Python, or Go) and willingness to work in TypeScript for deployment and authorization tooling.

• Familiarity with AI-driven software development: comfortable orchestrating coding agents and using specifications/tests as their interface.

• Proven record of owning outcomes end-to-end (not just completing tickets), with evidence to back it up.

• Excellent instincts for security within regulated environments dealing with money and personal data. Insurance/Insurtech experience is a plus but not required.

• Proactive, pragmatic, and communicative; you’re a problem-solver and team contributor in a small, agile environment.

• Ability to travel to the Amsterdam office at least two days per week.

Why Join Us?

• Competitive compensation

• Latest MacBook Pro and equipment

• Paid licences for Claude Code, AI agents, and leading development tools

• Flexible hybrid work (2–3 days in the office)

• Visa sponsorship available (including takeover of an existing Dutch visa; no relocation support)

• Beautiful Amsterdam office

• High ownership and direct influence on architecture and product

• Opportunity for fast-track career growth

• Work closely with leadership and partners
